A Kent-based care home hosted its third annual Wimbledon party – becoming a beloved tradition amongst the local care community.
Abbotsleigh Care Home, part of the Nellsar Care Group, braved the weather and hosted its largest Wimbledon party to date. Residents and team members from three sister homes joined the festivities, enjoying food, activities, and live tennis together.
The event acts as the perfect opportunity to support the efforts of three Nellsar senior managers who set up Tennis-Talents – a charity committed to helping young tennis players from low-income families to break into the professional game.
The day began with a flurry of activity as tables, chairs, bunting, balloons, and gazebos were set up – ensuring everything was weather friendly for the particularly wet forecast of late, whilst the BBQ brought the summer mood, regardless of the weather.
Those that attended wore white attire, and a small tennis court was marked out for modified games, prompting friendly competition between residents, team members and relatives. A large screen on the grounds also allowed guests to watch the professional matches outdoors – with traditional refreshments such as strawberries and cream, Pimms, and homemade Wimbledon cakes, bringing the centre court atmosphere to the home.
Alina Abagiu, Manager at Abbotsleigh Care Home, said: “Once again, our annual Wimbledon party has brought so much joy and laughter to our residents and team members. This event has become a highlight for our community, and we are beyond proud of the success of this year’s party. It’s truly heartwarming to see everyone coming together, and it makes our hard work worth it. We look forward to making it even more spectacular next year and for years to come.”
