The greatest show: Homecare’s Got Talent crowns its 2026 champion

A showstopping rendition of “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman saw Macey Shaw crowned Homecare’s Got Talent (HCGT) 2026 champion at The Crescent Theatre in Birmingham on Friday 7th August, taking home the £1,000 top prize and a holiday for two.

Macey, who works for Caremark Mansfield & Ashfield, stood out among 12 finalists from across the UK. Having reached the grand final in 2025, she returned to the competition for a second year and went one better – wowing the celebrity judging panel and live audience to take the top spot.

Her HCGT journey has already taken her beyond the competition stage. Following last year’s final, Macey was selected to join the Homecare’s Got Talent Choir, recording a charity version of Robbie Williams’ “Angels” at Abbey Road Studios alongside fellow care workers.

Having worked in care since she was 17 while pursuing her passion for musical theatre, Macey hopes her success will encourage others across the sector to continue pursuing their own ambitions alongside their careers in care.

Macey said: “I feel incredibly grateful. I honestly don’t have the words to express just how much this means to me.

“It’s really lovely to be able to celebrate with so many wonderful people and to have the opportunity to share the incredible work that care workers do. To be recognised and celebrated in this way is really special and to come back to the final and win this year is something I’ll never forget.”

From powerhouse vocals and acoustic performances to dance and drag, the grand final showcased a diverse line-up of talent from across the homecare sector.

The finalists performed in front of a judging panel featuring Kuill, known for appearing on The Voice UK, BBC Radio presenter Becky Measures, Jay Aston of Bucks Fizz and acclaimed guitarist Dave Colquhoun, who faced the difficult task of selecting this year’s winner.

Jay Aston said: “The final was brilliant this year, with so much talent on show and some very compelling back stories. I remember Macey from last year and you could tell she had come back to win.

“It’s such a great cause and I wish everyone who took part the very best. I hope they all come back next year because there were potential winners across the board.”

Dan Archer, UK CEO of Visiting Angels and founder of HCGT, said: “Seeing Macey’s reaction when her name was announced was a brilliant moment and a fitting end to a fantastic night. She should be incredibly proud of what she has achieved and we’re delighted to crown her our 2026 champion.

“For me, one of the most special things about HCGT is seeing people from across homecare come together in a completely different setting. There’s a real sense of support and camaraderie in the room, regardless of which organisation someone represents or who ultimately takes home the title.

“People working in care spend so much of their time supporting others, so this is our opportunity to put them at the heart of the celebration. That’s what we set out to achieve with HCGT and this year’s final captured that perfectly.”

Created to showcase the personalities and talents of people working throughout homecare, HCGT gives care professionals from across the UK the opportunity to step outside their day-to-day roles and take centre stage.

HCGT 2026 was supported by gold sponsors Lottie, Invoca, VCCM, Blue Light Card and Mobility Hire, alongside silver sponsors Aquatime, Supportis, SM92 and the British Franchise Association, with Jelly Drops as the Hydration Partner.

The competition was also backed by corporate supporters from across the homecare sector, including Care Your Way, Percurra, Right at Home, Bluebird Care, Promedica24, the Homecare Association, Caremark, Radfield Home Care, CCH Group, Home Instead, Apollo Care, Heritage Healthcare, Walfinch and Visiting Angels.
