Since its launch in 2022 by Nexus Care Services, Nexus Events has flourished under the leadership of Events Manager Monica Paraschiv, whose passion for enhancing wellbeing and reducing social isolation has made it an invaluable part of many people’s lives. Designed to go beyond traditional care, Nexus Events helps individuals reconnect with their interests, explore new opportunities, and fulfil lifelong dreams.

With a deep understanding of the needs and preferences of Nexus Events users, Monica carefully curates a diverse programme of activities—from afternoon teas at local garden centres to exhilarating river cruises. In 2024, she introduced a new milestone: a three-night retreat at a beautiful hotel in Ross-on-Wye. However, her dedication extends beyond simply planning events; she ensures each experience is tailored to the varied care needs, tastes, and aspirations of those she supports.

For many, Nexus Events is more than just an activity provider—it’s a gateway to fulfilling long-held dreams. This was especially evident in the heartwarming journey of Beryl, a 93-year-old great-grandmother who longed to reconnect with her son and meet her great-grandson across the Atlantic in Florida. Under Monica’s meticulous planning, Nexus Events turned this dream into reality.

Beryl’s journey was not just a trip; it was a reunion filled with love, new bonds, and priceless memories. Supported by the Nexus Events team, including Monica, Lisa (who managed her daily care needs), and Sam (who oversaw travel logistics), every aspect of the trip was carefully coordinated to ensure a seamless experience. Reflecting on her adventure, Beryl shared:

“I couldn’t have done it without Nexus. Lisa was so efficient, always listening to my needs, and there when I needed her. Monica was wonderful in planning it all, and Sam was marvellous, helping us check in at the airport.”

Beryl’s time in Florida, soaking up the sunshine, enjoying the beaches, and embracing precious moments with her great-grandson Julian, encapsulated the transformative power of Nexus Events.

Monica remarked, “Beryl had a fantastic time and made incredible memories during her visit. We were thrilled to help her meet her great-grandson and experience everything Florida had to offer. I am truly proud of what Nexus Events has achieved in such a short time, and I look forward to helping more people like Beryl fulfil their lifelong dreams.”

This is just one of many stories that highlight the profound impact of Nexus Events, not only on individuals but on the wider community. Each carefully crafted experience provides an opportunity to forge meaningful connections, combat loneliness, and bring joy to those who take part.

Tinga Umera, Managing Director of Nexus Care Services, summed up its ethos:

“Person-centred support is at the core of what we do. Through Nexus Events, we provide holistic care by connecting our clients with experiences that enrich their lives. We are honoured to have helped so many people, like Beryl, achieve their dreams. None of this would be possible without Monica and her incredible team of volunteers, whose dedication and creativity make every event truly special.”

Monica’s outstanding commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2023, she was honoured with a Staffordshire Dignity in Care Award from Staffordshire County Council, and in 2024, she was a finalist in the Great British Care Awards for the Putting People First Award.

Through her passion and dedication, Monica continues to make Nexus Events not just a service, but a life-enhancing experience—one event, one dream, and one unforgettable memory at a time.
