Haughgate house enchants residents with ‘Washing Line Wishes’ initiative

Haughgate House, located in Woodbridge and a distinguished member of the Healthcare
Homes group, has recently brought joy and inspiration to its residents through its heartwarming
‘Washing Line Wishes’ initiative. This creative endeavour invited residents to write their dreams
on paper tee shirts, which were then hung on a string ‘washing line’. The devoted team at
Haughgate House has worked tirelessly to transform these dreams into reality.

The initiative has been met with enthusiasm and dedication by the staff, fulfilling a range of
wishes from the desire for more flowers to be displayed, to the opportunity to hold cuddly
animals. One particularly touching moment occurred when a resident’s wish to “see and hold
some cuddly animals” was fulfilled with the arrival of adorable bunnies, thanks to the generosity
of a friend of the home. This gesture brought immense joy and demonstrated the
compassionate care for which Haughgate House is well-known.

On Wednesday, 3rd July, the initiative received further recognition when BBC Radio Suffolk
visited Haughgate House to interview the team and residents about the ‘Washing Line Wishes’.
The interview, which can be found on BBC Sounds as part of Sarah Lilley’s show on the same
date, highlighted the success of the project and its positive impact on residents’ well-being.

Notably, one resident shared how her wish to view and plant more flowers around the home had
made her feel valued, with the vibrant colours bringing a smile to her face each day.

The team at Haughgate House expressed their gratitude to the community and expressed
excitement about continuing to grant even more wishes in the future, reinforcing their
commitment to enhancing the lives of their residents.

Haughgate House continues to exemplify exceptional care and community spirit within the
Healthcare Homes group. To find out more about Haughgate House, visit their website
