Free family fun day in Worcestershire

Local care provider to host a fun-filled day for the whole family

Leading community care provider Radis Community Care is hosting a free family fun day and wellbeing event at its Worcestershire based extra care service, Cherry Orchard House.

Open to the local community, the event will be held on Saturday 17th August between 10am and 4pm, and will feature a range of specialist talks, educational sessions and entertainment.

With free entry, the event will instead, be accepting donations which will go to the business’s nominated charities for 2024; Mind and Age UK.

Cherry Orchard House provides 52 apartments, with Radis care workers supporting individuals who live there, including people living with dementia, learning disabilities and autism.

Radis is keen to continue giving back to the local community and is hosting a family fun day as a way to raise awareness of all areas of health and wellbeing, and to give people access to something they may not have been able to otherwise.

Lorna Regan, National Wellbeing Lead for Radis Community Care is thrilled to be hosting such an important event.

She said, “It’s vital that we share the knowledge we have and utilise our industry contacts to inform and educate our residents, the local communities and families – and we hope our health and wellbeing event will do just that.

“We strive to give back to the community in every way that we can, and this is just the beginning.”

The event will include a number of talks from industry professionals, including a presentation from the Royal College for the Blind who will also be bringing along a number of assistance dogs.

Also in attendance will be a registered GP, who will be providing a talk focusing on anxiety, depression and will be offering some tips on how to cope with mental health issues.

The local police and crime stoppers will also be attending the event, along with Radis nurse, who works with the help and support of an assistance dog.

Wellbeing advisor for Cherry Orchard House, Chloe Hammond also said: “It’s been a joy to help plan this event, and we can’t wait to see it come to life. At Radis, we really pride ourselves on bringing local communities together and we’re keen to raise awareness surrounding all areas of health and wellbeing.”

In addition, Chloe will also be telling people how an assistance dog can support within a workplace. And, a number of local vendors and stalls will also be attending across various areas and industries, including clothing, health, beauty and wellbeing as well as a tombola.

Radis’ National Activities Lead, Kris Oughton will also be providing entertainment throughout the day, hosting fun and inclusive games for all to enjoy, such as ‘wiggle and giggle’ alongside face painting and a choir.

With burger vans, ice cream vans and a café that will be providing light refreshments throughout the day, the health and wellbeing event is set to bring residents, families and the local community together in a fun-filled, educational event for the whole family.

The event will be held at Cherry Orchard House, Pershore, Worecestershire, WR10 1EZ.
