With a combined 50 years of experience at local home care company Home Instead Southport & Formby, four care superstars have each reached landmark anniversaries, and even topped the list of the company’s longest serving care professionals across the UK.
Anthea Pilkington and Irene Hough established the company back in 2007, opening one of Home Instead’s very first franchises in the UK. As the brand has innovated and added more care to its offering, such as live-in care and specialist dementia care, Anthea and Irene have supported clients with a more varied set of needs, giving them the option to stay at home. It has been made possible thanks to the hard work of their dedicated care professionals.
Sam and Janet have both been valued members of the Home Instead team for 15 years, when the brand was in its infancy and few people had heard of companionship focused home care. Prior to this role, Sam did lots of volunteer work and decided to apply her compassion to a care role. Since joining, she has brought immeasurable joy to older people in the community who can stay living at home thanks to her.
Janet has supported one of her clients for over 10 years. They still appreciate her support and kindness. Supporting clients right until the end, she was once told by a terminally ill client that he “never felt so looked after as today.”
Having joined Home Instead in its first few years, Sam and Janet are amongst the care professionals who have been with the company for the longest across the franchise network of 255 offices. They have undergone the company’s award-winning training program, and gained significant experience delivering quality care, including specialist support in areas such as dementia.
Two other care professionals at Home Instead Southport, Lisa and Helen, have both reached a decade at Home Instead. Lisa’s clients praise her strong ability to build trust, not just with themselves but with family members too. Helen recently supported a 102 year old whose daughter was eternally grateful that her mother could stay at home as long as possible.
Anthea says: “Nothing fills me with more pride than seeing Sam, Janet, Lisa and Helen reach these key milestones! We all know that employee retention is an issue in our sector, so I’m extra delighted to have seen these four angels progress to become highly skilled and confident care professionals.
“Our care professionals become companions to clients and often it’s just like having a friend popping by. These four have built strong and long-lasting relationships with clients who thanks to them can stay living at home for longer, the place we love best.”
