A visit by four care home residents to a Dorset nursery school has proved that age really is no barrier to making friends.
The party from Colten Care’s Brook View in West Moors were met with eager smiles and waves from 28 children aged under five who attend River House Nursery in Wimborne.
After greeting each other, hosts and visitors began their morning together with singing and dancing led by Colten Care’s Music and Arts Partner Fiona Pritchard.
Claudia Canosa, Brook View Companionship Team Leader, said: “There was plenty of clapping, shaking and playful stopping and starting, which the residents thoroughly enjoyed.
“One, Diana Pearce, took on the role of ‘mummy duck’ much to everyone’s delight. She has since told other residents who were unable to attend that she had a wonderful time with the children.
“They happily interacted with our residents throughout the visit. We thank everyone at the nursery for our warm welcome and hosting us.”
Alongside Diana, fellow residents Patricia Upshall, Iona Midlane and Janet Silcocks were also on the minibus trip.
As the children waved the party goodbye and blew kisses, Janet boarded the bus saying: “Please can we go back there again!”
Brook View Home Manager Lauren Steele said: “Intergenerational activities like this are a real treat. Our residents find it so joyful and heartwarming to interact with children.”
