“Everyone at The Lawn is really looking forward to our great community summer event,” said Emma Cranstone, the care home’s Activity Coordinator. “It’s going to be a fantastic day and a real treat for everyone. Our residents are busy creating colourful sand artwork and other crafty items for the Residents’ Stall – and counting down the days until the all the ‘Fun of the Fair’ begins.”

The Lawn’s community extravaganza is fast approaching and is open to all and free to attend, with something for everyone to enjoy. The wide and varied activities taking place include performances by The Knickerbocker Glory Appalachian Dancers who will be accompanied by their live band and a musical spectacular from Cajun Boogaloo; a toe-tapping trio who will be playing Country, Cajun, Old Time, Bluegrass, Folk Roots music to get everyone dancing.

There will also be a wide range of competitions and games for everyone to get involved with and enjoy. These include Name the Bear, Soak the Manager, a raffle, tombola, Croquet, a selection of community stalls including Hair by Freya and Cosy Feet Socks and Shoes.

“We have a fantastic bouncy castle for the children to enjoy, a Face Painter, Rock Painting and Sand Art too,” added Alina Gutu, the Registered Manager at The Lawn. “That’s not all, we will have a tasty BBQ, a refreshment tent serving cooling drinks and the English summer favourite – Pimm’s – and an ice cream van.”

“We’ve got so much taking place and it will be wonderful to get the community together for an inclusive, accessible summer event,” continued Emma.  “The Soak the Manager stall seems to be one of the residents’ highly anticipated stalls. They  are having a jolly time teasing us about how many soakings we are all got to get,” added Alina. “I’m sure it will be a great laugh, I’m just hoping for warm, sunny weather so we can all dry off quickly.

“We hope everyone will have a fun-filled day on Saturday 3rd August. I’m looking forward to welcoming all the visitors, seeing old friends, making new friends and meeting more of our wonderful local community,” concluded Alina.
