Leading Organisations Unite to Tackle the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge and Support The Care Workers’ Charity

In a powerful show of solidarity, some of the most prominent organisations in the care sector, and other sectors, are coming together to participate in The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC) Annual Trek on 20th September 2024. The National Care Forum, Digital Care Hub, Elevation Advisors, Birdie, and Impact are joining forces to take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, demonstrating their commitment to supporting care workers across the UK.

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is more than just a test of endurance; it is a symbolic journey that underscores the crucial role care workers play in our society. Participants will trek 24 miles across Yorkshire’s three highest peaks—Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough—while raising vital funds to support care workers who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

Why These Organisations Are Stepping Up

The involvement of leading organisations is a testament to the pressing need to support the care sector. These organisations are not only industry leaders but also advocate for the well-being of the workforce that keeps the sector running.

The National Care Forum views the challenge as a critical opportunity to give back to those on the frontlines. ” Myself and the whole NCF team are so proud of our colleagues for taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise money for our wonderful care workers. We know every pound that’s raised by the charity makes such a difference to care workers who might be struggling financially, mentally and emotionally. It’s always been vital that care workers receive the support and recognition they so desperately deserve but now feels like such an important time to let them know we are behind them and so grateful for everything they do. I have no doubt that with every step our trekkers take they will be inspired to push on to the finish line knowing the money they are raising will help care workers going through hardship. Good luck to everyone taking part,” shared Vic Rayner OBE, CEO of NCF.

Elevation have long supported initiatives that directly impact the lives of care workers. “Supporting The Care Workers’ Charity aligns with our core values of empowering those who care for our communities,” said Jacob Hurtley, ESG Director at Elevation.

Birdie, the creator of smart software for homecare providers, have a team of five climbers joining the charity hike. “It takes a village to help care for our ageing community; and care professionals are at the very heart of that village”, said Lucy Rollinson-Ogilvie, Senior Community Lead at Birdie.

Digital Care Hub and Impact are also passionately backing this initiative. Katie Thorn, Project Lead from Digital Care Hub remarked, “The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is a meaningful way to bring attention to the essential work care workers do daily.”

 The Urgent Need for Support

The Care Workers’ Charity exists to provide financial aid and emotional support to care workers who often face tremendous challenges in their roles. The funds raised from this event will go directly towards helping care workers who are struggling with mental health issues, financial hardship, and other personal crises. With the care sector under unprecedented pressure, it is crucial that we come together to support those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

Karolina Gerlich, CEO of The Care Workers’ Charity, expressed the significance of the event, saying:

“The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is not just a physical test but a demonstration of our collective commitment to care workers. The funds raised will make a real difference in their lives, providing the support they need in challenging times.”
