Kingsmead unveils ‘Every hand has a story’ project

Kingsmead Every hand has a story’ project

Kingsmead Care Home is thrilled to announce the launch of its touching new project, “Every
Hand Has a Story,” which celebrates the rich life experiences of its residents through the unique
stories behind their hands.

Throughout this initiative, residents have shared their heartfelt narratives, each linked to their
hands—symbols of their lives, memories, and the countless moments that have shaped them.
One resident, initially hesitant to participate, remarked that she couldn’t have a photo of her
hands as she thought they weren’t interesting. After the team and fellow resident’s reassurance,
and seeing the final image alongside her story, she exclaimed, “Oh wow, those hands are
beautiful! They can’t be mine!” This poignant moment perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the
project: recognising the beauty and value of each individual’s story.

The stunning photographs and accompanying narratives have been beautifully displayed in our
activities room, creating an engaging and reflective space for all to enjoy. We warmly invite
family members, friends and the local community to visit and take a moment to explore these
stories. As you wander through the displays, you might even spot a familiar hand or discover a
story that resonates with you.

This project not only creates connections among residents but also bridges the gap between
families and their loved ones by showcasing the rich histories and unique journeys. Kingsmead
believe that every hand truly has a story to tell. They are excited to share these beautiful tales
with the community and are encouraging other care homes and branches within Healthcare
Homes group to start this initiative themselves.
