Brownscombe Care Residences, a foundational part of the CHD Living family, is commemorating its 40th anniversary this year. As a provider of residential, nursing, and palliative care, Brownscombe has spent four decades delivering exceptional services and building deep-rooted community ties, reinforcing its status as a leader in the care sector.
Established in 1984 by the Hasham family, Brownscombe Care Residences has evolved from the original Brownscombe House to include the recently added Brownscombe Lodge and intimate Brownscombe Cottage. Set within three acres of beautifully landscaped gardens in picturesque Haslemere, the residences represent a blend of historical charm and modern luxury.
To mark this milestone, the Hasham family, along with team members and residents invited friends, families and members of local community to join them to celebrate with a delicious BBQ. The afternoon was filled with fun and warm hospitality.
The service also welcomed representatives from the Haslemere Stroke Club, which is affiliated with the Stroke Association.
The day featured live performances by local singer Emily Day, and all enjoyed the interactive animal experience from Millers Ark Farm – a highlight for all ages. There was also a commemorative tree planting ceremony which took place to honour the 40 years.
A representative from the Haslemere Health Centre commented: “The practice have worked with Brownscombe Care Residencies over many years and we congratulate them on 40 years of great service to their residents.”
Rebecca Connolly, Regional Manager, said: “Every day at Brownscombe is an opportunity to make a difference. It’s about more than just care – it’s about enriching lives. Witnessing the joy and achievements of our residents is everything and we are absolutely delighted to be celebrating such a significant anniversary. I want to take this opportunity to thank our entire team, and all of our residents and their families.”
Marion Cleak, aged 72, a resident who has been living at Brownscombe Care Residences for the last nine years, said: “I have been here nine years and I have seen it grow. The celebration was spot on. Everything was good about it, one of the best parties. I really liked the singer and the way she walked amongst us whilst singing.”
Nazira Hasham, Co-founder of CHD Living and the first manager of Brownscombe Care Residences, said: “As we celebrate this 40-year milestone, my heart swells with pride reflecting on our journey from a vision to a thriving care community. Being the first facility within our portfolio, where our journey began, it’s a truly special place. We are incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic team, who provide high quality care to our residents. Brownscombe is not just a care home; it’s a place where we honour the richness of every life we touch.”
Sarah Fairbairn, a member of the The Haslemere Stroke Club, said:
“A huge thank you to you all from everyone at The Haslemere Stroke Club who joined you for your lovely party. Apart from being amazingly lucky with the weather, it was a really enjoyable way to spend the afternoon. Everyone looked to be having lots of fun – we all thought the staff dancing in the middle was a great ‘entertainment’ in itself and the food was all delicious. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely.”
Brownscombe Care Residences has featured in the Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Guide for three consecutive years, reinforcing its commitment to excellence in providing unparalleled care and luxury living experiences. The care home has also consistently maintained a ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
