Springbank Care Home’s ‘schools out for summer’ events bring joy and connection

Springbank Care Home, "Schools Out for Summer" event

Springbank Care Home hosted two successful “Schools Out for Summer” events on Friday 9th and 23rd August , fostering intergenerational connection and joyful afternoons for residents and local children.

The events buzzed with activity as children from the area joined residents for an afternoon of crafts, games, and delicious homemade treats.

“We are incredibly pleased to have hosted such delightful events at Springbank,” shared Lisa Pickles, Home Manager. “Intergenerational activities like these have benefits all around for both residents and children. Residents feel a sense of purpose and fulfilment from interacting with the younger generation, while the children have had the opportunity to learn valuable life lessons and develop empathy. It’s a win-win situation that brings joy and enrichment to our community.”

These intergenerational sessions provided a valuable opportunity for children to interact with the residents, creating new friendships and spreading smiles.

“Thank you to all the children who joined us at these recent sessions,” said Springbank Care Home. “We hope you enjoyed them as much as our residents have!”
