On Friday the 16th August, The Oaks Care Home hosted its annual summer fete, bringing smiles to the local community on Newtown.
Residents, families, and visitors from the local area were invited to enjoy a day filled with entertainment and fun activities. The day was a huge success, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone who attended.
Fern the sausage dog, along with her friends from Animal Encounters, stole the show and the hearts of the residents, when she made a special trip into The Oaks Care Home, for any residents who weren’t able to come outside to join in with the fete. The Oaks recognise how much joy their residents get from pet visitors and made sure that everyone who is able to meet Fern and her friends, gets the opportunity to do so on the day.
Highlights on the day included entertainment from DJ Tony, Animal Encounters introduced residents and guests to a variety of animals, face painting and fancy dress, plenty of games, and the cake and sweet stand went down a storm, selling out before the end of the day!
Visitors from a local children’s summer club came together to share in the festivities. The event was not only a celebration of summer but also a testament to the strong sense of community The Oaks Care Home enjoys.
“We’re so proud of the success of our Summer Fete,” said Jen Roberts, Home. “Our goal was to create a joyful day that our residents and visitors could share with their loved ones. Watching everyone have such a wonderful time, from engaging with the animals to enjoying the entertainment, was a truly special experience.”
The Summer Fete is part of The Oaks Care Home’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the well-being and happiness of its residents by creating memorable events and raised over £900 for the residents comfort fund, that will go towards days out and activities for the residents to enjoy.
