Real Lives

From personal experience to professional care

Pooja Barot, Registered Manager, Shreeji Inc Services

Pooja’s journey into the field of home care was inspired by a personal experience that profoundly shaped her views on support and compassion.

After suffering a spinal fracture due to a fall from the loft, she found herself dependent on caregivers during her recovery. This challenging period allowed her to see first-hand the critical role that dedicated caregivers play in the lives of those in need. The kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern her carers exhibited left a lasting impression on her. They didn’t just provide physical assistance; they built a foundation of trust, connection, and dignity during a difficult time in her life. This experience sparked a passion in Pooja to ensure that others could receive the same level of care and compassion that she had been fortunate enough to experience.

Motivated by this personal revelation, Pooja began her career as a carer. Over time, she honed her skills, developed her leadership abilities, and eventually launched her own company, Shreeji Inc. Services, which she has successfully nurtured for the past 10 years. Under Pooja’s leadership, Shreeji has grown into a respected provider of home care services, known for its person-centred approach and unwavering commitment to quality care. Her philosophy is rooted in ensuring that each individual receives the attention and personalised care they deserve, creating an atmosphere of trust and compassion.

Service users play a critical role in shaping the care that Shreeji delivers. Their experiences, preferences, and feedback are invaluable in refining practices and maintaining high standards of care. Pooja is deeply dedicated to listening to the voices of those receiving support, recognising that their input is essential for providing individualised care. By incorporating service users’ feedback, Shreeji can continually improve and tailor its services to better meet the unique needs of each client. This approach fosters a welcoming environment where individuals feel truly understood and supported.

Beyond her dedication to providing high-quality care, Pooja is also passionate about empowering women within her organisation. She has made it a priority to create opportunities for women to thrive in leadership roles and advance their careers at Shreeji. Pooja fosters a supportive and inclusive workplace where women are encouraged to grow and develop their skills resulting in company that employs above 70% staff members that are female. Through mentorship programs, skills development workshops, and a commitment to gender equality, Pooja ensures that women at Shreeji have the resources and support they need to succeed.

Pooja’s impact in the field of home care is profound, driven by a deeply personal commitment to compassionate, individualised support for both clients and caregivers alike. Her work extends beyond her own agency to shape the future of care through her involvement as a prominent director of Care Provider Voice, representing approximately 1,000 care providers and also the chair for Registered Manager’s Network for the North East London Skills for Care program, alongside advocating for essential training programs like the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training.

By leading with empathy, vision, and a focus on continuous improvement, Pooja has set a standard of excellence within Shreeji Inc. services and the wider care community. She remains dedicated to creating a world where everyone in need of support can live with dignity, comfort, and respect, empowered by compassionate and skilled caregivers.
