PJ Care, the award-winning specialist care provider, is proud to celebrate 25 years of delivering exceptional service and support to individuals with neurological conditions.
“This is a significant milestone for our PJ Care family,” Managing Director, Steve Feery, announced this week.
Founded on 29 February 2000, by former nurse Jan Flawn CBE, PJ Care, driven by a passion for providing age-appropriate care for people with young-onset dementia.
Jan said: “I am proud of what P J Care’s staff have achieved over the last 25 years to make my original dream of caring for the younger person with neurological impairments/illnesses in appropriate accommodation and family orientated care.”
The first neurological care home to open was Bluebirds in Shenley Lodge, Milton Keynes, followed by Mallard House in 2006. The PJ Care’s head office moved to Sherwood Place, Bletchley in 2008. A third care home, Eagle Wood, opened in Peterborough in 2012.
Jan added: “The staff team, the Board of Directors, my son Neil Russell, who has been involved with me from the start of the company, have upheld and carried forward our original ethos of Care Compassion and Commitment throughout 25 years of the company’s development.”
Today, PJ Care employs over 500 dedicated professionals across its four sites.
In 2018, Jan’s son, Neil Russell, took over as Chair, ensuring the company remains a family-friendly business with a deep-rooted commitment to compassionate care.
Neil said: “PJ Care was founded on strong principles of providing the very best quality of care for those that would struggle to receive it elsewhere because of the different needs and presentations of their conditions.
“Over 25 years PJ Care has built on these principles continuing to provide the very best quality care and always putting the individual resident first.”
PJ Care is now widely regarded as a leader in specialist neurological care and neuro-rehabilitation for individuals with progressive or acquired neurological conditions.
PJ Care has consistently been recognised for its outstanding contributions to the field. Over the past decade, PJ Care has garnered numerous national and regional awards, reflecting its commitment to excellence, innovation, and compassionate care.
At the heart of PJ Care’s success is its dedicated Multi-Disciplinary Care Team, which includes carers, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nutritionists, and neuropsychologists.
Together, they provide tailored support to residents while also working closely with families, charities, and the NHS.
PJ Care’s philosophy is built on three core values: Care, Compassion, and Commitment. As the company marks its 25th anniversary, it reaffirms its dedication to delivering outstanding care and improving the lives of those it serves.
Steve added: “Care compassion and commitment run through this business-like Blackpool through a stick of rock. I am super proud to be part of the team for the last six years.
