Wren Hall celebrating Professional Care Workers’ Week with a focus on mental wellbeing of staff

A Nottinghamshire care home has marked Professional Care Workers’ Week with an event dedicated to the mental wellbeing of their staff.

Wren Hall, a specialist dementia care nursing home in Selston, held a dedicated Mental Wellbeing Day for its staff last week (w/c September 16), encouraging some downtime during their busy day.

Demonstrating the home’s ongoing commitment to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of those on the front lines of care, the wellbeing day featured nutritious refreshments and moments for staff to pause and rejuvenate.

Wren Hall organised a selection of fresh fruit, wholesome foods, and even indulgent brownies, emphasising the importance of balance. Staff were encouraged to take time for themselves, enjoy the treats, and prioritise their mental health throughout the day.

Managing Director Anita Astle MBE further expressed her appreciation by sending each team member a heartfelt letter and delicious cupcake, thanking them for their hard work, commitment, and dedication.

Anita said: “Our care workers are the backbone of everything we do here at Wren Hall. Their compassion and resilience are remarkable, and it’s vital that we support their mental health as much as they support our family members. Professional Care Workers’ Week is a wonderful opportunity for us to not only thank them but to ensure they know how valued they are.”

Professional Care Workers’ Week is a national event dedicated to raising awareness of the vital work done by care staff across the UK, and serves as a reminder of the essential role these professionals play in supporting vulnerable members of society. At Wren Hall, this celebration is not just a moment of thanks but part of an ongoing commitment to creating a positive, supportive work environment where staff feel valued and empowered.

Anita added: “The nature of care work is unique, often physically and emotionally taxing. But by prioritising the mental health of our team, we create a culture of care that extends beyond our family members to include the wellbeing of our staff. This is crucial not only for retaining dedicated professionals but for ensuring that they are able to provide the compassionate care that our community deserves.”

Wren Hall’s Mental Wellbeing Day is just one example of the home’s proactive approach to staff wellness. Throughout the year, the home offers a variety of initiatives aimed at fostering a healthy, balanced work environment.
