MP visits Aspen Grange Care Home in Braintree to celebrate first in Essex to achieve prestigious

Aspen Grange, a modern, purpose-built care home in Braintree, is the first service in Essex to be awarded the BS8606:2019 certification. This distinction marks Aspen Grange as one of the pioneering adult residential care services in the country to conform to the new British Standard for Adult Residential Care.

Rt Hon. James Cleverley MP visited the home to meet staff and residents and congratulate them on the achievement.

The certification was awarded following an exhaustive inspection by Care Inspections UK (CIUK), the only registered and accredited independent body in the UK for care home inspections. Aspen Grange met all criteria of BS8606:2019, which defines the standards for providing personal, nursing, and specialist dementia care within a residential setting.

Designed by the award-winning DWA architects and constructed in 2008/09, Aspen Grange is a two-story facility providing high-quality residential, nursing, and dementia care. The home’s design and amenities facilitate exceptional care delivery in a comfortable and welcoming environment.

Sharon Thompson, home manager at Aspen Grange, expressed her pride in this achievement, saying: “We were all very proud to welcome the Home Secretary to Aspen Grange and show him our lovely home.  Securing the BS8606:2019 certification is a significant milestone for Aspen Grange. It is a testament to our commitment to excellence in providing top-tier care and support to our residents.”

Tony Stein, chief executive of Healthcare Management Solutions, which manages Aspen Grange on behalf of Opal Care, commented: “This accolade is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team at Aspen Grange. It reinforces our mission to lead with excellence in the healthcare industry.”

Rt Hon. James Cleverley MP said: “It was a pleasure to visit the residents and hardworking staff at Aspen Grange and to present the BS 8606:2019 certification to them.

“Congratulations to the team on this fantastic achievement.”

Keri Hill, inspection manager for Care Inspections UK, said: “We are pleased to have worked with Aspen Grange, which has become among the first care facilities in the UK to achieve compliance with BS8606:2019.

“We are committed to supporting the sector to provide the very best standards of care possible.”
