Hartford Care has achieved the prestigious national Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Quality Hallmark Award for end of life care at its Boulters Lock care home in Maidenhead. The accolade, awarded after rigorous assessment by GSF, recognises the UK’s most exceptional health and social care providers.
Alongside exceptionally high scores in all areas of evaluation, the assessor’s report highlighted the liveliness of the home and its plentiful communal space and activities for the residents. During the assessment, residents were found to be very happy and well cared for, with the staff demonstrating strong teamwork and communication.
Ashleigh Newman, Home Manager at Boulters Lock, says: “We’re honoured to achieve the Quality Hallmark Award. This award is a testament to the hard work, compassion and care that our fantastic team bring to the workplace every day; their commitment to our residents makes me very proud. We’re dedicated to making sure that all our residents live their lives in the way that they wish, and to delivering high quality care and support throughout their time with us.”
Julie Armstrong-Wilson, Chief Operating Officer for Gold Standards Framework, said: “We are delighted to congratulate all the organisations that have achieved accreditation and received the Quality Hallmark Award this year. This year we have had the most organisations apply for accreditation since we commended the accreditation process over 15 years ago. The quality of care and the compassionate cultures we have seen is truly inspiring, reflecting a deep commitment to ensuring people receive the right care at the right time, making a real difference to them and their families, proving that generalist services can and do provide good palliative and end of life care. These organisations exemplify the Gold Standards Framework standards by listening to what matters most to each individual and delivering care in line with their goals, wishes, and preferences. Supporting our ageing population to live and die well is so important, our Award Winners are leading the way in demonstrating what good end of life care looks like. A huge congratulations to you all.”
Set in an impressive late Victorian building, Boulters Lock retains many of its original features and offers dementia care, residential care, respite breaks, day care and end of life care across its 32 en suite bedrooms.
Hartford Care recently invested £100,000 in a new extension which connects the existing lounge and dining room to create a light and airy open plan space, with direct access to the newly renovated garden area. In addition, there’s a new servery in the dining room, a hair salon and a new communal shower room. All the fully furnished en suite bedrooms are spacious and ready for residents to personalise as they wish. Some of the ground floor bedrooms benefit from private balconies overlooking the secluded garden.
