Consistent, relationship-led care transforms daily life for man with cerebral palsy

Visiting care can be about far more than help with daily tasks. For Mark, a man living with cerebral palsy in Somerset, consistent, relationship-led support from Trinity Homecare has helped him live more independently, confidently, and happily in his own home.

Mark has always embraced life with determination. From joining the Air Training Corps to taking part in charity parachute jumps, he has consistently sought out new challenges. His parents were equally committed to supporting him to live life on his own terms and remain as independent as possible.

Finding carers who truly understood Mark, however, proved difficult. “We tried lots of care companies over the years, but then we found Trinity,” says Mark’s mother. “The care is over and above. It is about building trust, understanding Mark, and making sure he feels valued in his own home.”

A key part of that support has been continuity. Sophie, Mark’s visiting carer for the past two years, has become a familiar and trusted presence.

“We got on like a house on fire from the minute we met,” says Sophie. “We laugh, cook, and go out together. It is not just care, it is a genuine connection. Being a consistent face has helped Mark feel relaxed, confident, and open to new experiences.”

Since receiving support from Trinity Homecare, Mark’s family has seen a noticeable change. He is more outgoing, plays his cello more often, and takes part in activities he previously avoided. The support has also eased anxiety for his family, giving them reassurance that Mark is safe, supported, and thriving at home.

Mark describes his carers as “like the little and big sisters I always wanted. I feel confident and independent because of the care I receive.”

“I can safely say they go above and beyond every single visit,” adds his mother. “It is such a relief knowing they are coming in. I do not have to worry or check in constantly. They really alleviate all that stress.”

Trinity Homecare’s visiting care model focuses on consistency, personal relationships, and understanding each individual’s needs. Across Somerset and Wiltshire, the approach is helping people live with dignity, maintain independence, and enjoy everyday life in the place they feel most comfortable, their own home.
