A homecare provider has launched regular community coffee mornings, which it promises will be filled with ‘warmth, connection and community spirit’.
Westmorland Homecare says the new events, which will be held each fortnight at 98 Highgate in Kendal, are open to anyone in the community.
“Whether you are new to the area, a long-time resident or just looking for a friendly place to relax, this coffee morning is the perfect opportunity to connect with others,” said Jack Monopoli, Care Coordinator-Recruitment at Westmorland Homecare’s South Lakeland branch.
Guests can look forward to complimentary coffee, tea and an array of delicious cakes, all provided by Westmorland Homecare and 98 Highgate.
“Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or prefer a calming cup of tea, there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” said Mr Monopoli.
“The coffee mornings aim to bring together local residents in a safe, inclusive space where everyone is welcome to enjoy some much-needed social interaction.
“Westmorland Homecare recognises the impact of loneliness and isolation, especially among the elderly and vulnerable members of our community. This coffee morning is more than just a social event; it’s a dedicated effort to create a supportive environment where people can connect and engage with others.
“By providing a safe space, Westmorland Homecare hopes to foster new friendships and strengthen community ties, helping to reduce the feelings of isolation that many may experience.
“We believe that everyone deserves to feel a sense of belonging and so this coffee morning is an open invitation to all members of our community, regardless of age or background. The coffee mornings are held every other Wednesday, from 10am-noon. The next events are on Wednesday, September 4 and Wednesday, September 18.
“98 Highgate, conveniently located in the heart of Kendal, provides an ideal setting for this community gathering,” added Mr Monopoli.
“The venue is designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring that all guests can comfortably attend. With accessible parking bays available right outside, those with mobility challenges can easily access the event. Additionally, the venue features access to an accessible toilet, further enhancing the convenience for all attendees.”
Wendy, who attended the inaugural coffee morning, said: “I was warmly welcomed, provided with delicious coffee and home-made cake and was very pleased to spend time talking to such friendly people. It is a really lovely asset and one I shall certainly visit again.”
Westmorland Homecare provides care to enable vulnerable and often frail people over the age of 18 to live independently in their own home. Its services include homecare, such as help with housekeeping and meal preparation, and personal care, which includes support with medication, dressing and bathing and helping them living life to the full.
