Music lovers at a Dorset care home turned back the clock for an afternoon of flower power, rock ’n’ roll and memories inspired by the swinging Sixties.
The lounge at Colten Care’s Canford Chase in Poole was decorated with artwork and memorabilia ready for a fun karaoke session, with team members dressing in hippy-style outfits and joining residents to sing along to much-loved hits from the era.
Songs by artists including The Beatles, Nancy Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Sonny & Cher all featured on the playlist.
Resident Audrey Hay said: “It brought us right back to when we were young, a great excuse to get the dancing shoes out.”
Vicky Day, Companionship Team Leader, said: “The afternoon sparked many happy memories, with residents reminiscing about the music and fashions of the 1960s.
“It was wonderful to hear people share their memories of the time, whether they were working, raising children, travelling the world or simply enjoying the era.”
Canford Chase is one of eight Colten Care homes rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
