Care About Care launches new campaign tools to hold new Prime Minister to account

A new ‘Provider Pack’ will help care organisations engage their employees, the people they support, families and their local communities in the campaign, making it easier than ever for more people to contact their MP, the new Prime Minister, and to engage friends and family members. https://careaboutcare.org/support-the-campaign/

The new Provider Pack contains practical resources to help care providers support the campaign and encourage others to take part.

The pack includes:

  • A local media guide and template press release
  • Ready-to-use social media content
  • A template letter to local councillors and MPs
  • Key evidence and campaign messages
  • Posters for communal and staff areas
  • A digital campaign leaflet
  • A printable pledge board graphic
  • A template email for employees

The materials can be used across all care settings, regardless of business model, funding arrangements or the type of care provided. They can be displayed in care settings, shared with employees and families, included in newsletters or circulated digitally through email, WhatsApp and social media.

Meanwhile, a new care stories’ feature will enable people to record a short video of themselves speaking about their experience of the care system and why it needs reform, with the video then automatically edited, posted on the campaign group’s social media channels, and sent to Andy Burnham. Videos will also be hosted on a new ‘care stories’ map on the campaign website. https://careaboutcare.org/support-the-campaign/

Care About Care brings together care providers, care workers, people who draw on care, families and the public to change how the Government understands and prioritises social care. The campaign is calling for immediate action to stabilise the care sector, including:

  • An immediate £625-a-year pay rise for every care worker by exempting care providers from the Employer National Insurance increase and ringfencing the resulting £1 billion saving for frontline pay.
  • A fair cost of care that is independently calculated, properly funded and paid to providers on time.
  • A new ‘British Care Fund’ to help local care providers invest in technology, facilities and the future of care.

Kat Hall, founder of Providers Unite, said:

“We’ve already had thousands of people engage with the campaign so far, but with a new Prime Minister in post – and one who has long promised care reform – now is the time to keep up the pressure. This new Provider Pack gives care organisations all the practical tools they need to engage their communities and build support for reform. The new care stories feature will supercharge the emotional element of the campaign and bring the voices of the people working in and drawing on care directly to the public.

“By bringing together care providers, care workers, people who draw on care and their families, we can help ensure social care urgently receives the recognition, respect and investment it deserves.”

Care providers can download the Provider Pack and join the campaign at careaboutcare.org.
