A south coast care home provider has gained formal external recognition for one of its in-house leadership and management training courses.
More than 35 managers in various roles have participated in Colten Care’s third-level ‘Excel’ Leadership & Management Course in the past 18 months to two years.
They include the group’s 21 Home Managers plus other colleagues who have been promoted or hold senior head office roles.
Now the course has been awarded official recognition for its status in high-quality continuing professional development (CPD) from independent professional body the CPD Accreditation Service.
The stamp of approval formally recognises the course as a strong, effective learning experience that supports ongoing professional development, leadership growth and best practice.
Elaine Farrer, Colten Care’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “This success marks an important milestone. It is a wonderful achievement for our Learning & Development team. Their hard work and commitment enables our managers to continue to learn, grow and develop throughout their careers. It is a matter of immense pride to win external accreditation for our ongoing investment in strong leadership across the organisation. It serves to demonstrate and reinforce the strength and quality of learning opportunities we have available across Colten Care.”
‘Excel’ is the third level of Colten Care’s suite of leadership and management training courses. The programme begins with ‘Engage’ for new managers, followed by ‘Elevate’, ‘Excel’ and finally, for Directors and Heads of Department, ‘Evolve’.
Rather than technical in-role content, the programme is designed to encourage wider leadership and management qualities and skills.
Excel content is presented in a series of modules with training delivered face-to-face and followed by quarterly webinar catch-ups.
Joe Dale, Learning & Development Business Partner and programme lead, said: “The suite of courses is designed to support the continuing learning of our colleagues. Those who join us in senior roles will tend to arrive with a wealth of knowledge already so the question is how to develop their leadership skills further and keep learning. Building on the success of Excel, we will aim to achieve similar accreditation in future for the other tiers of our Leadership and Management programme.”
