Championing Social Care and OpenScore partner to launch enhanced interactive map for Care Home Open Week

The Care Home Open Week map created and hosted by OpenScore.

Championing Social Care and OpenScore will launch a refreshed interactive Care Home Open Week map at Care Show London at ExCeL Wednesday 29 April, unveiling an innovative partnership that will make it easier than ever for people to find and engage with homes taking part in this year’s event.

OpenScore, developed by the team behind Autumna, is the UK’s first live, continually updated view of care home quality. Its national map provides a natural home for the Care Home Open Week map, making it easy for people to find participating homes and the events that are running nearby.  The map can be found at https://map.openscore.org.uk/?event=chow

The new map builds on a long-standing feature of Care Home Open Week, but this year’s refresh makes it much easier to navigate. Users will be able to search either by postcode or town name, and the map will then display participating homes in that area, along with the events they are hosting. Each listing will include the event name, date, time and contact details, with address information added where available and an ‘Add to Calendar’ feature designed to make planning a visit even simpler.

The map has been designed to be as accurate and practical as possible, with registration data matched to Autumna’s directory information and displayed in a way that is straightforward to explore on a desktop or mobile device. It will be launched live on the Championing Social Care stand at The Care Show, where visitors will be able to see the new functionality in action on a large screen.

The partnership between OpenScore and Championing Social Care reflects a shared commitment to making Care Home Open Week more visible, more accessible and more impactful. By housing the map on OpenScore’s platform, the campaign gains a stronger digital home and a more user-friendly route for people to discover what is happening in their area.

Care Home Open Week 2026 will run from 15–21 June, with this year’s campaign taking a World Cup football theme to encourage inclusive, football-inspired activities that bring residents, staff, families and communities together. More than 900 care homes are already registered, and Championing Social Care is urging more homes to sign up now and be part of the nationwide celebration.

Debbie Harris, founder of Autumna and OpenScore said: “Autumna and OpenScore are all about helping families make informed choices about later-life care, so partnering with Championing Social Care on this year’s Care Home Open Week map feels like a natural fit. The map has always been a valuable part of the campaign, but this refreshed version makes it much easier for people to search by postcode or town, find what’s happening locally and plan a visit with ease. We’re proud to be helping connect care homes with the people and communities who want to know more about them, and to support a campaign that does so much to celebrate the work of the sector.”

Mitesh Dhanak, board member of Championing Social Care said: “Care Home Open Week is about opening doors, building trust and showing the real heart of social care. This new map gives us a much stronger way to do that, making it easy for people to find participating homes and see what they are doing in their local area. It’s a fantastic example of partnership in action and another tool to help more homes benefit from the visibility and community engagement the week can bring.”
