A global celebration of art has brought out the creativity and individuality of residents at care homes across the south.
Paints, brushes, sketch pads and pencils were all in use at Colten Care homes in Dorset and Hampshire in recognition of World Art Day.
At Woodpeckers in Brockenhurst, residents painted and decorated pictures of leaves that were attached to a large canvas showing a hand-painted tree with outstretched branches.
Among those collaborating on the project was Pat Hoy, who said: “I love the way we all worked together to create something beautiful.”
Fellow resident Dawn Pearson said: “I surprised myself today with what I made.”
At Colten Care’s Abbey View in Sherborne, Dorset, three art enthusiasts who live at the home shared some of their works for others to see.
The pieces by Jenny Threipland, Barbara Brown and Janet Matthews were put on display, prompting many compliments.
Afterwards Janet told team members: “Thank you for showcasing my art. That really encouraged me and made me feel uplifted.”
