Precious Homes, an independent provider of support services for young people and adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, is celebrating 25 successful years in the care industry this month.
Mitesh Dhanak, now Chairman at Precious Homes, started the company with his brother Dilip in 1994, after visiting a local care home. Despite having no experience in the industry at the point of start-up, the company has gone from strength to strength, now with a total of 38 services around the country.
Mitesh commented, “We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved over the years. From a standing start, we’ve created a nationwide network of award-winning services which support people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs to live as independently as possible.
“This 25-year-old journey has had lots of bumps along the way, however, we managed to navigate our way through them, thanks to the fantastic team at Precious Homes. I’d like to thank every one of them for their support over the years. The highlights of the journey for me personally are when the people we support have a breakthrough; it can be anything from being able to make a cup of tea independently (something the rest of us take for granted) to moving to live in the community independently. Each one of these is a life-changing difference for our service users in terms of their confidence and wellbeing. We are extremely proud to have had lots of these breakthroughs over the years and look forward to many more.”
As well as a list of industry accolades from the Great British Care Awards, Laing Buisson, and The National Learning Disability and Autism Awards, the company has won several Pinders Healthcare Desing awards, in recognition of their innovative service design. The company’s model focuses on providing a pathway of support, with tiered services – residential, supported living and supported living plus – on one site.
