New free online tool helps you calculate the cost of care

If you’re thinking about live-in care at home for a loved one, rather than a care home, but have no idea how much it would cost, a new free online live-in care cost calculator from care provider Agincare could come in very handy.

All you have to do is complete a simple two-minute online questionnaire about your family member’s care needs, and the nifty calculator sends you a cost band for that level of care.

The calculator asks 10 simple questions about how much support your relative needs to eat and drink, move around, take medication, and get washed and dressed. Each question comes with three ‘levels’ of support as possible answers – you simply choose the one that’s most accurate.

There are also questions about whether your loved-one is often confused and forgetful, and how well they can communicate. Plus how much bladder control they have, whether their needs are complex (such as using a catheter or needing end of life care), how much support they need at night and how happy they are to accept support.

You don’t need to give any personal details or information about your family member – your answers simply guide the calculator. Each of your answers generates a ‘score’, which when added together determine a level of dependency and a price bracket.

Agincare sends this result to you in an email, giving you a no-obligation idea of how much live-in care from one of Agincare’s professional care workers could cost a week.

After that, it’s up to you whether you take your enquiry further and arrange to meet one of the Agincare team to discuss your family members’ needs in more detail.

Try the free live-in care cost calculator now or call 0800 0121 247 and speak to the Agincare team.

The calculator is part of Agincare’s fresh new website, designed to give people looking for care – either for themselves or a family member – all the information they need at their fingertips.

And the website offers lots of care options. As well as delivering live-in care across England, Agincare has a nationwide network of home care branches and manages more than 20 care and nursing homes.

Agincare’s Director for Sales of Marketing, Adam Luckhurst said:

“Any company’s website is effectively their shop window, and we wanted ours to show people what a positive impact great care can have on people’s lives. So we’ve completely redesigned our site, improving the navigation and the search to make it easier for people to find information and advice, including the cost calculator. And as you’d expect these days, it all works beautifully on a computer or any mobile device.

“But above all, what we do is about people. So we’ve included lots of great photos and stories of our care staff and the people we care for. We’ve worked really hard to strip out technical terms, and write our pages in ways that make them helpful, easy to understand and bring our stories to life.”
