Skills for Care is once again #CelebratingSocialCare this April and is encouraging everyone across social care to join in.

Since 2022, Skills for Care has dedicated the month of April to #CelebratingSocialCare, with 2026 being the fifth year of the much-loved celebratory campaign.

While the organisation supports and celebrates social care year-round, this dedicated month is an opportunity to shout a little bit louder and encourage everyone else to join in.

Skills for Care will be running the #CelebratingSocialCare activity across their website, social media, and other communications channels and will be sharing a selection of good news stories from people and organisations across social care.

They’re also encouraging as many other people as possible to get involved on social media by sharing shoutouts, thank you messages and good news stories. This might include:

  • shouting out colleagues, people you support, people who support you, and other people across social care
  • sharing a recent initiative or achievement for your organisation
  • sharing news from an event or activity that you’ve recently run within your team or with the people you support
  • recognising your own hard work and sharing your achievements
  • or simply sharing why social care is so important

Skills for Care has created a resource pack  to support people with joining in with the celebrations including social media images, suggested social media posts, email banners, selfie cards and a blog template, as well as ideas for activities you can run in April to celebrate social care.

In a video message launching the campaign, Professor Oonagh Smyth CBE, CEO, Skills for Care said:

“I’m so excited to say that we’re now in our fifth year of dedicating the whole month of April to #CelebratingSocialCare.

“Celebrating Social Care is really important because social care has such a big impact on all our lives – from people working in social care to people drawing on care and support, to family, friends and our communities.

“We know that people who work in social care are really skilled and really passionate professionals and this month is a dedicated opportunity to honour that work.”

People across social care have also shared why #CelebratingSocialCare is so important saying:

“Celebrating Social Care means recognising the heart and soul that every staff member brings into the lives of the people we support. Every small achievement, a smile, a regained confidence, a moment of independence matters deeply. By celebrating these moments, we honour the dignity, individuality, and stories of those we care for, while inspiring our team to continue making a real difference. It reminds us all that social care is not just a service, but a relationship built on trust, respect, and compassion. Celebrating success keeps our community strong, valued, and proud of the work we do every day.”

“Celebrating social care is about more than just recognition, it’s about valuing the incredible work staff do, boosting morale, and inspiring excellence. It empowers the people we support, builds a stronger sector, and reminds everyone of the life-changing impact of care.

“Celebrating Social Care is vital because it makes staff feel valued, listened to and heard. It also makes people who draw on support feel empowered within their care.”
