In line with Dementia Action Week, leading community care provider Radis Community Care, is keen to raise awareness of the illness and support those living with it, too.
Caring for many people up and down the country that live with dementia in the form of live-in care, visiting care and extra care services, Radis is providing a week-long activities programme designed specifically for those living with dementia.
Prioritising socialisation between attendees, as well as hosting activities that will keep minds and bodies active, Dorothy Terry House Extra Care Service is set for a fun-filled week.
The Redditch-based extra care service’s social activity programme is suitable for all needs and abilities and will include arts and crafts, knit and natter, a wiggle and giggle disco, yoga, gardening, and breakfast club as well as a number of music-themed sessions, bingo and quizzes.
Kris Oughton, National Activities Lead is delighted to be hosting such an action-packed week whilst supporting those living with dementia.
He said, “Whilst we support people 365 days of the year, it’s important to use awareness weeks and occasions such as this to do as much as we can to raise awareness of dementia, the people it directly effects and their families.
“It’s also a great opportunity to connect with friends, families and loved ones of those with dementia, arming them with information and knowledge, providing them with the confidence and ability to support them, too”.
Radis’ social activities programme ends May 17th and takes place at Dorothy Terry House Extra Care Service.
