Leading live-in care provider Promedica24 has partnered with Silcoates School in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, for a special project this holiday season. The Connecting Generations project has been launched to bring pupils together with people with care needs.
Silcoates Junior School pupils aged between 4 and 11 have written over 150 Christmas Cards to people receiving live-in and home care from Promedica24 across the UK. The children filled the cards with well wishes and festive joy, with one pupil writing “Dear friend, have the best Christmas ever!”
Pupils went above and beyond personalising the cards, with one card even including a Harry Potter quote “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
Children also filled the cards with festive drawings, from Christmas trees, to snowmen, reindeer and candy canes. The cards were hand delivered by regional managers and live-in carers to the people supported by Promedica24. Recipients were delighted to read the cards and have proudly displayed them on their mantle pieces for their visitors to see.
Marika, 98, is one of the people receiving live-in care from Promedica24 who was gifted one of the cards from the pupils. Her daughter Alison noted that her mother was “overjoyed on receiving her first Christmas card from Promedica24. She had the biggest smile on her face and was full of gratitude that they thought about her.”
Promedica24 helps people maintain their independence and remain in the comfort of their own home by providing a variety of live-in and home care services, from 24/7 support to hourly and part time care.
Grzegorz Wrzosek, Country Manager at Promedica24, said:
“At Promedica24, we are always thinking about how we can bring a smile on the face of those who we support. The holiday season is a special time for all of us and we thought that asking pupils to write to those under our care would be a great way to bring the generations together in the spirit of Christmas.
“The cards were all very well received and came as a pleasant surprise to our clients. They loved the colourful drawings and could feel the thought that was put into writing them.”
Ellen Moss, Head of Junior School at Silcoates School, said:
“Silcoates School is proud to support the ‘Connecting Generations’ project at Promedica24. We believe in the power of connecting generations and spreading love throughout our community.
“Our pupils in Junior School have thoroughly enjoyed writing Christmas cards with thoughtful messages for Promedica24’s clients receiving live-in care and companionship. We hope that the warm wishes and kind words from our pupils will bring smiles to their faces and warmth to their hearts.”
