After the success of last year’s event, Christies Care the national in-home care provider, is organising a Community Day of activities for the elderly and people with learning disabilities and autism. The event will be held on Wednesday 27th March between 10am and 3pm at Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds.
The Community Day includes a performance by Circus Petite, the Suffolk touring Circus, and visitors can expect to be delighted by the variety of acts including the amazing Justo the clown, hula-hooping, jugglers, magic and lots more. Around the circus performance, there will also be activities including balloon modelling, face painting, as well as Zumba and Yoga classes. There will also be pamper sessions available throughout the day from West Suffolk College and garden activities within the grounds of Nowton Park.
Lunch is being provided by Wandering Grill, plus tea and coffee will be available at the Nowton Park café during the circus interval.
The event is completely free to attend, although advance booking is essential.
Lin Barnes, Director at Christies Care, explains: “Following three successful events for adults with learning disabilities with Circus Petite over the last three years, we’re delighted to run the event again this year. With funding for social activities reducing year on year, we are happy to use some of our budget to be able to fund this event. Our staff enjoy participating in this event and helping not only our own clients but members of the community who would not normally have access to these activities. We want to thank Nowton Park for allowing us to use their facilities and grounds to enable us to put this event on.’’
David Bean, co-founder of Circus Petite, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Christies Care again this year. The response from the previous years has been incredible and we’re happy that our collaboration has brought joy to so many and been great fun for our performers over the last few years. We’re looking forward to a great event to top off our Easter tour!”
