Housing development celebrates 40 years of community living

A LOCAL housing development marked a significant milestone as tenants, families, and staff gathered to commemorate 40 years of community living at St Mary’s Gardens.

The ruby anniversary celebration saw the development welcome 40 guests who indulged in a spread of birthday cake and refreshments while being serenaded by local piper Heather Grant.

Informal speeches and lively chats made for a joyous occasion, allowing tenants to reminisce about memories and share their experiences of calling St Mary’s Gardens home.

Tenant Helen, said: “It was nice to meet so many strangers who became friends.”

Fellow tenant Fay, said: “It was nice we all got together and to meet all the staff.”

Louise Muir, Development Manager said: “Being able to all come together and celebrate the vibrant community here at St Mary’s Gardens made for a memorable afternoon.

“Celebrating 40 years is a testament to the hard work of our staff and the wonderful tenants who have called this place home. Here is to the next 40!”

The development has continuously adapted and responded to the evolving needs of its tenants, ensuring a quality living experience that prioritises well-being and a strong sense of community to allow its tenants to live fulfilling and independent lives.

Angela Currie, CEO of Hanover Scotland, the organisation behind the housing development, was among those in attendance.

She said: “Our goal is to consistently enhance our services and ensure our developments remain desirable places to live for years to come.

“Marking St Mary’s Gardens’ 40th anniversary is a celebration of our commitment to ensuring affordable, safe and comfortable living for our tenants over the years.”
